it was the late 1970s a time of rebellion repression oppression and we were just rebelling against everything in sight and there were bands out of england like the sex pistols and the clash and bands in america like the new york dolls the dead kennedies fear black flag and it was a great time to be alive and in philadelphia pa we had a little hangout called south street south street was the coolest place in the world to go man you could hang out and be just whatever the fuck you wanted to be wall to wall denim mohawks leather and combat boots guys with their hair dyed green girls with their hair and their eyes dyed black

then something happened in the late 1980s all of a sudden the yuppies figured south street was a cool place to hang too then south street started to turn over to the yuppies and all of a sudden all our fucking hangouts started to go away the tla started playing all this fucking artsy music all this fucking bullshit we didnt wanna listen to like fucking richie havens and all this hippie shit and we didnt wanna listen to that we wanted to hear some more fucking fear we wanted to hear some more fucking black flag and suicidal tendencies but they took it all away from us and now they have to pay

the late 1980s was a dark time for us punks down on south street i gotta tell ya it made me sick to my stomach just to look at those fake mother fuckers fucking guys with their hair moussed and their fucking cell phones strapped to their fucking hands and the women with their hair sprayed about five feet high i couldnt fucking stand to look at them wall to wall corduroy and button down shirts with wool ties wool ties what the fuck kind of bullshit is that who knits a fucking tie

i wish theyd all just keep on walking just keep walking east straight into the delaware like the fucking lemmings that they are you might see the remnants of our old culture down there like zipperhead and condomnation and we want it all back we want those fucking yuppies to just disappear just keep walking till you make it all the way back to jersey in your fucking suburbanite homes and your fucking minivans and your fucking schools and your fucking jobs just keep on walking give south street back to the punks
